Kota Kinabalu: A 49-year-old man was jailed five month, Monday, for keeping a stolen wallet containing an identity card and ATM card.
Sabahalim Abduwait pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to keeping the wallet belonging to Matius Michael at Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1 on Sept 19 at 7.15pm.He was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to five years, or fine, or both, on conviction.
After a few minutes, the victim realised that his bag was stolen and managed to catch Sabahalim at the hospital stairs and found the wallet in his pocket.Duty counsel Carmen Khoo requested for a lenient sentence as he is a general worker with no fix income and was remorseful of his action. However, Kelvan applied a deference sentence and informed the court that Sabahalim has an identity card.
