Jake Verano Gomez, 33, has been sentenced to four months in jail after being found with a number of videos of different women believed to have been filmed at the British Museum on 19 August.
A man has been jailed for four months after being caught by an off-duty police officer upskirting a woman at the British Museum. Colombian national Jake Verano Gomez, 33, of no fixed abode, was apprehended by the City of London officer on 19 August after he was spotted taking a video of his victim without her being aware. The officer quickly detained the man with the help of staff and security from the Museum before Metropolitan Police officers arrived and took him into custody.
Besides his jail sentence, Gomez, who pleaded guilty to recording an image under clothing to observe another without consent, was ordered to pay court fees at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court during his sentencing last week. He will also have to register with the police in accordance with the Sexual Offences Act 2003 for up to seven years.
