SANTEE, Calif. – A man barricaded himself inside a unit in a Santee apartment complex early Friday morning, prompting a response from multiple law enforcement officers and a SWAT team.
San Diego County sheriff’s officials said deputies were called to Cedar Creek apartments in the 8600 block of Fanita Drive at around 2:20 a.m. in response to what they described as “unknown trouble.” By sunrise, just after 6:30 a.m., numerous deputies and SWAT members had taken positions outside of a residential building on the complex property.
According to sheriff’s officials, an unidentified man was the subject of the law enforcement activity, and as of 10 a.m., he has refused to exit the unit. Officials noted that they have been in communication with the man and were working to resolve the situation peacefully.Complex residents are allowed to leave the property, but no one is being allowed to enter.
