A 36-year-old man was found shot to death at an Akron intersection early Friday morning.

Akron police officers and EMS were called out to the intersection of Noah Avenue and Bye Street just after 2 a.m. When they arrived, the Summit County Medical Examiner said they found the victim lying on the road with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was identified as 36-year-old Malcom Jamar Queen and the manner of his death was ruled a homicide. “We were able to recover several shell casings from the scene. So we’re confident that through analyzing that evidence, that we’ll be able to backtrack and hopefully be able to connect those shell casings to another firearm,” said Lt. Michael Murphy of the Akron Police Department.Police haven’t made any arrests and are looking for a suspect or suspects. This marks the 5th homicide in Akron this year. The average for the past 5 years was 2.8 homicides by February 6.“Our number one goal is to reduce violent crime in the city of Akron and our initiatives to take guns off of the streets and those types of things continue. So we’ll continue to do that work in hopes that we can prevent and slow down things like this from happening,” said Murphy. Police are hoping the public will reach out to them if they know anything about this or any other crimes. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2Tip.
