) - The jury in a 2021 Lee County murder investigation is returning with a guilty verdict , according to District Attorney Jessica Ventiere’s office. The jury found Cordezmond Harris guilty for the murder of Fabion Menifield, 28, as well as for shooting into an unoccupied vehicle after a drive-by style shooting outside the victim’s home.
The deadly shooting happened in the 100 block of Chester Avenue on Jan. 19 of that year. The DA’s office says Menifield was working on a vehicle outside his home when a gold-colored car pulled up and began firing. The victim, despite being critically injured, was able to tell investigators what happened before he was transported to a hospital where he died the next day., Opelika police investigators were able to connect the vehicle to Harris’ girlfriend, the DA said.
