The officers activated their emergency lights, but discontinued pursuit for safety reasons because of the large volume of traffic on the road, authorities said.
A man involved in an attempted home invasion was killed Wednesday when he crashed his pickup truck as he fled the scene, Round Lake Beach police said. The crash happened on Rollins Road at the Lotus Drive intersection, when the man’s Nissan pickup hit two cars parked in the 800 block of Rollins Road that were being offered for sale. A bystander examining the cars was injured when the force of the collision pushed one of the cars into him, police said.
when police received word that the man was trying to enter the residence of someone with whom he had previously been in a relationship, police said. As police responded to the home in the 100 block of Beachview Drive, they saw the suspect’s truck fleeing west on Rollins Road. The suspect, though, continued driving away at a high rate of speed before leaving the roadway at the Lotus Drive intersection and running into the parked cars.
