A man in Oakland was detained after allegedly firing gunshots at a bar following a disturbance and attempted stabbing.
A man was forced to leave a Grand Lake district saloon in Oakland after creating a disturbance and attempting to stab a bouncer with a titanium-tipped arrow Sunday night. The man, later detained by authorities, allegedly fired multiple gunshots at the business after being ejected. The bar was struck at least three times, but no one was injured. More than a dozen customers and employees were inside at the time. Police said the 52-year-old man was causing a disturbance and was asked to leave.
After being pushed outside, he retrieved a semi-automatic pistol and fired multiple rounds at the closed front door of the bar. The man fled on foot but was found a few blocks away and taken into custody. Two guns were recovered from him. He was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation and had not been booked at Santa Rita Jail as of Monday afternoon
