Police are investigating two separate assaults which took place in Melbourne's CBD overnight, including one in which a man died. 9News

Emergency services were called to Bourke Street at about 5.45am, where they found two men with stab wounds.in critical condition, but one of the men, who is yet to be identified, later died there.Police said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined and no arrests have been made at this stage

A seperate incident left a different man fighting for his life in hospital after a violent brawl in the CBD. A crime scene has been established and Bourke Street remains closed between Elizabeth Street and Queen Street. The 25-year-old man from Springvale was allegedly struck to the face before he fell and hit his head on the ground in Southbank about 12.40am.READ MORE:"As the men spilled out onto the promenade footpath, three of the men were set upon by two other men, who began punching into the trio," a police spokesperson said.Police said the pair who appeared to be the aggressors and involved in the assault fled the scene.
