A man was fatally shot Monday night in West Oakland, the city’s 112th homicide of the year.
Besides trying to identify the man, police were also trying to determine a motive for the shooting. No arrests had been announced as of 6 a.m. Tuesday.
The killing is the 112th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year and the first since Nov. 14. The California Highway Patrol has also investigated six homicides this year on Oakland freeways. Last year at this time Oakland police had investigated 127 homicides in the city. Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the killer.
