A man was killed by Anchorage police after pointing a gun at drivers and a school bus. The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, on East Tudor Road. Police received numerous calls reporting a man with a weapon and acting erratically before the fatal shooting.

A man was fatally shot by Anchorage police officers on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, after he allegedly pointed a gun at multiple drivers and a school bus in a busy area of East Tudor Road. Anchorage police received at least 13 calls reporting a man in dark clothing brandishing a weapon. Some callers claimed the man pointed the gun at them, while others reported him pointing it at other individuals.

Several witnesses described the man putting the gun in and out of his waistband or stepping into traffic. One account alleged that he attempted to stop a school bus by standing in front of it. The first officers arrived at the scene within three minutes and encountered the man on the south side of Tudor Road. As they attempted to give him instructions, he began walking across the road towards another officer who had just arrived. This officer issued commands and ordered the man to remove his hand from the gun. Shortly after, the officer fired approximately five rounds, striking the man in the middle of Tudor Road. Chief Sean Case stated that the incident unfolded too quickly to utilize non-lethal methods. The body-worn camera footage worn by the officer was obstructed by his rifle, preventing a clear view of the man's actions. The footage will be released to the public according to department policy. Chief Case acknowledged the recent string of officer-involved shootings and emphasized the city's efforts to address the issue. He stressed that the problem extends beyond officer-involved shootings to encompass broader societal concerns, including vulnerable populations and persistent violent crime
