Police are investigating the city's 35th homicide of the year after a man was fatally shot at a Southeast Austin apartment complex early Saturday morning.
Officers responded shortly after midnight to the 3200 block of Montopolis Drive after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired, Austin Police Officer David Lewis said. Lewis said the shooting occurred in a common area of an apartment complex, not inside a residence, and that it appears to be an isolated incident. Detectives do not believe any suspect remains at large, and that everyone believed to be involved is either speaking with detectives or being interviewed by officers.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Austin Police Department's Homicide Tip Line at 512-974-8477 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477. The immediate threat from this week's heavy rains and flooding is moving downstream on Friday as floodwaters pour into the Highland Lakes.
