The gunman is in critical condition at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center, according to police.
Officers were called at about 4 p.m. to the home on the 2300 block of Edwin Avenue, which is just south of West Wilbeth Road and east of Manchester Road. Investigators say the woman came to the home to pick up some of her items.
As the woman left the home, the man followed her outside with a handgun and shot her, police say. He then turned the gun on himself. Police say a handgun was recovered at the scene, along with other evidence. No other details were available Monday night.
