Man falls in Leeds canal as police, paramedics and firefighters race to scene
A man who was spotted in the water in a canal in Leeds has been saved following a dramatic water rescue.
West Yorkshire Police say they were called to The Boulevard, near the Royal Armouries, at 1.10pm on Saturday, July 1, to reports of a man in the water. Firefighters also rushed to the scene amid fears for the safety of the man in the water. Thankfully, the man was pulled out of the water 30 minutes later at 1.42pm. He was taken to hospital as a precaution and it has been reported that he was taken under police escort.Pictures published online of the rescue show a huge wave of emergency services at the scene, with firefighters, police and paramedics present to ensure the man was safely retrieved from the water.
