The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating after two teens were hit by a car Wednesday while walking in Smiths Station.
Editor’s Note: The article reflects the ages of the teens injured in the incident. It was previously reported that they were kids. EAST ALABAMA - The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating after two teens were hit by a car Wednesday while walking in Smiths Station.
ALEA arrested 35-year-old James Gabberd following the incident. He was booked into the Lee County Jail, where he faces the following charges in connection with the incident:Felony leaving the scene of an accident with injuries In addition, Gabberd also faces charges for failure to appear on theft charges not related to this incident. The suspect is out of jail on a $13,300 bond.Dashcam video from an oncoming vehicle shows two teens walking on the side of the roadway as a silver vehicle approaches from behind. After the vehicle hits the two teens, the driver backs up and leaves the scene. One of the victims charges at the car while the other is lying down on the ground. No word yet on the victim’s condition.
