A 22-year-old man drowned after he was caught in a rip current in the ocean off Long Beach Island on Sunday, officials said.
Edwin Antonio Made Sanchez, of the Dominican Republic, was pronounced dead at 5:18 p.m., nearly 2 1/2 hours after he began to struggle and disappeared in the water off the 5th Street beach in Beach Haven, the borough’s beach patrol said in a statement.
