A man drowned at a Lake Michigan beach north of Chicago on the Fourth of July. The incident occurred at Centennial Park Beach in Winnetka around 1:40 p.m., 43-year-old Luke Laidley disappeared beneath the waves after jumping out of a boat to help a group of children who were tubing behind a boat in Lake Michigan.Laidley was eventually pulled from the water by the boaters, who performed CPR.
He was taken to a hospital in Evanston in serious condition but was pronounced dead around 4 p.m., according to the TV station.
