Officers from the Tallahassee Police Department entered the lively family entertainment center, where children and parents watched in bewildered amusement. As seen in the bodycam footage released by the department, an officer declared, 'We’re gonna detain the mouse.
' Another officer, in a separate bodycam recording, exchanged playful banter with a mother who requested a picture with the mascot, saying, 'Chuck E.’s a little bit busy, ma’am.'\The cheerful facade quickly dissolved as officers confronted the costumed figure. A tense standoff ensued, with officers repeatedly calling out, 'Chuck E., come with me. Chuck E! Chuck E! Stop resisting! You’re being detained, stop resisting! Do not cause a scene here, sir.' Jermel Jones, 41, was finally apprehended after a brief struggle and placed in handcuffs just after 6:30 p.m. on July 23, as indicated by the timestamp on the bodycam footage.\The arrest came after a woman, who frequents the establishment, reported suspected criminal activity. She informed authorities that she last had possession of her credit card during a visit to Chuck E. Cheese for her child's birthday party on June 28. Providing documentation of alleged fraudulent charges and footage showcasing her debit card being used at an unfamiliar location, she identified Jones as a Chuck E. Cheese employee. Despite Jones' denial of any wrongdoing and his claim of finding the card and never using it, a wallet with the victim's name was discovered in his left pocket during a search. Additionally, a small amount of marijuana was found in his possession. Jones stated he was in the process of obtaining a medical marijuana license. The company, Chuck E. Cheese, has not yet responded to a Fox News Digital inquiry
