Police say a 53-year-old man fell during an abseiling activity at Brides Cave, near Boranup.

A number of students and teachers had already abseiled down to the bottom of the cave when the instructor fell. Police were initially called about 3.30pm to help St John Ambulance and Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel with a medical evacuation of the man.First aid was provided to the man until an RAC Rescue helicopter paramedic arrived and took over the care of the patient.A safety sign outlines the potential risk of abseiling at Brides Cave.
Emergency personnel and colleagues of the man were able to provide guidance and instruction to safely recover him, as well as students and teachers from the bottom of the cave.
