Floyd Temple died after putting on a fireworks display for the children in his neighborhood and getting hit in the chest.
"It went off and his chest exploded, and [the kids] ran over to my house and told me about it. That's when police showed up," neighbor Rick Tuggle said.
"They were sitting over there. They're probably traumatized right now. I got to go check on them to see where their head at right now because they're probably traumatized. They were sitting right there on the stairs when it happened. One of my kids was sitting right there on those stairs."Police arrived at 12:38 a.m.
Temple's neighbors said he was a good man and were shocked an accident like that could happen in their community.that Temple was"a really nice guy, nice guy. He’s my brother, bro. I really love him with all my heart.” Setting off fireworks is illegal in Ohio and can result in arrest, Toledo police noted. And they warned that not only can setting off fireworks result in fatalities, but it can lead to burns or even amputations in some cases., spokesman for the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department.
Neighbors are still shocked at Temple's death. “I never thought this would even happen over here," Tuggle said.
