One man died after going missing on the Poudre River after a raft overturned and another man is missing in a swiftwater incident in Pitkin County.

One man died after going missing on the Poudre River after a raft overturned, and another man is missing in a swiftwater incident in Pitkin County.At about 3 p.m. Tuesday the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a private raft overturning in the Poudre River just east of Mishawaka, according to a news release. One of the rafters was “unaccounted for” and authorities received a SOS activation from a device in the area of the incident.

Three deputies, a Colorado Parks and Wildlife officer and a witness pulled a man from the river and performed CPR. The man was taken by a medical helicopter to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The rafters were properly equipped, including having and using the SOS notification device, the sheriff’s office said. The victim was not identified in the news release.
