David Garrett, 56, died after the fire Friday morning in Barberton, officials say.
BARBERTON, Ohio — State and local authorities are investigating after a 56-year-old man died following a garage fire Friday morning.
The fire was reported just before 8 a.m. on the 400 block of Wooster Road North, according to the Barberton Fire Department. When firefighters arrived, they reported a working fire in the garage. The man was found inside the garage and was taken to Akron General Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just after 8:30 a.m., according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office. The victim was identified as David Garrett. The medical examiner’s office has not yet released the cause of death.
