A 53-year-old man died Wednesday after an hours-long standoff with Dallas police officers, according to the department.
Around 12:18 p.m., members of the Dallas Police Department’s gang and auto-theft units responded to a home at 221 Starr Street, near 8th Street in North Oak Cliff, where authorities said they found two stolen cars being scrapped for parts in the backyard.
Police said six people walked out of the home voluntarily. Authorities said they were told another person, Pablo Ramos, was in the home’s attic. They found Ramos inside unresponsive shortly before 7 p.m. He was taken to a hospital where he died, police said. Two of the six people who evacuated were arrested on outstanding warrants related to probation violations, police said. One was on probation for possession and delivery of controlled substance charges and the other for burglary.
