Our thoughts are with his family
A man has died after being hit by a car on a major Nottingham road. Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called to Alfreton Road at Bobbers Mill just after 10.45pm on Friday .
The force says one man was pronounced dead at the scene, and that his family have been informed. The family are also being supported by specially trained officers, whilst the suspected driver of the car is assisting police with inquiries. Part of Alfreton Road was cordoned off for the rest of Friday evening and part of Saturday morning following the incident. The cordon stretched from the Bobbers Mill Bridge up to where Alfreton Road meets Churchfield Lane. Two police officers and two police cars remained at the scene on Saturday morning, before the cordon was lifted and the road was reopened to traffic at around 9am.
Sergeant Mark Baker, of Nottinghamshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends. People should expect a heightened police presence in the area for some time today as we work to fully understand what happened."
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or who has dash cam footage of it to get in touch. People can call 101 and quote incident number 970 of March 17 if they have any information to share.
