A man died at the scene of a one-alarm fire in South Dallas on Saturday afternoon, authorities said. Firefighters responded just before 4 p.m to a fire at a vacant commercial building in the 2300 block of Al Lipscomb Way, near Interstate 45.
When they arrived, they found a homeless man in the building’s parking lot who appeared to have suffered injuries, possibly from being inside the structure, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said. First responders began life-saving efforts on the man before taking him to a hospital, where he died, Evans said. His identity has not been released. The fire could be seen coming from behind the three-story building, and firefighters made their way inside, found where the fire started — in a second-floor room at the back of the building — and put it out about 5 p.m., Evans said. Evans said pending the medical examiner’s ruling on the man’s cause of death, the fire’s cause will be listed as undetermined.. Aria writes about breaking news.
