Penfield, N.Y. — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a violent altercation Tuesday afternoon at the Wegmans on Penfield Road. Deputies responded to the store around 3 p.m. and determined two men got into a fight near the cash registers, resulting in one of them suffering a laceration to the face from a "sharp instrument," the sheriff's office said.
The victim fled to his workplace nearby and was taken to a local hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries, according to Deputy David Marcucci. The suspect fled the scene and has not been found. The sheriff's office said it appears the incident was isolated and there is no threat to public safety. “We go through the same procedures each time when we arrive — public safety is #1," Marcucci said.
