Cameron Ray, 20, was fatally shot outside a nightclub in 2022. He was a college student, recovering from a basketball injury.Cameron Ray, 20, was fatally shot March 18, 2022, in the parking lot of OT Tavern and Bar 3606, at the intersection of Greenville and Martel avenues. Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph was a passenger in the vehicle from which the shots were fired, but his attorney has said he wasn't a shooter.
Jones’ defense hinged on his belief that the SUV was being shot at. Jones confessed to arching his arm out the passengers’ side of the black SUV and firing warning shots. In his interview with police, Jones said people threatened him during the fight and ran after their car as it drove down Martel Avenue. He told police he did not shoot to kill.
Gunfire rang out less than 50 seconds later as Ray’s group walked away from the entertainment district. Video seemingly captured flashes of muzzle fire coming from the SUV and Ray falling to the ground. The gunmen fired more than a dozen shots, according to testimony.
