A 29-year-old inmate was stabbed to death Monday at William Donaldson Correctional Facility has now been identified as Joseph Agee III.
Agee was serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to a reduced charge of murder in the 2012 slaying of Natavious Fields in Dallas County. He was initially charged with capital murder because he shot into a vehicle, killing Fields.
The inmate “sustained sharp instrument injuries from another inmate,” according to Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.Agee is the second inmate fatally stabbed at Donaldson in just days.of a “sharp force” instrument in what is being investigated as a homicide. So far this year, 31 inmates have died at Donaldson, surpassing the 2021 tally of 26 for the entire year.
