SUNBURY—The state Supreme Court has refused the hear the appeal of a Northumberland County man convicted of third-degree murder in the abuse death of his former girlfriend’s three-year-old daughter.A jury in 2021 found Jahrid Josef Burgess responsible for the Nov. 22, 2019, beating death of Arabella Parker in the Trevorton home he shared with the toddler’s mother Samantha Jo Delcamp.
Burgess also was convicted of endangering the welfare of children, obstruction, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. Samantha Jo Delcamp was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, obstruction in child abuse cases and other charges and sentenced to 12 to 15 years.
Willis, 54, of Sunbury, was found guilty of obstruction in child abuse cases, hindering apprehension and making false reports to law enforcement and is serving a sentence of 17 months to 17 years. A Superior Court panel in July 2022 affirmed her conviction.
