Manchester City will compete in the FIFA Club World Cup for the very first time after winning the Champions League in June
Manchester City's already hectic 2023/24 campaign will include more fixtures than normal thanks to their achievements in last season's Champions League final.
The Blues' success meant they played in the Community Shield in August and also competed in the UEFA Super Cup for the first time, beating Sevilla on penalties. And there is another trophy City can add to their collection in December, the FIFA Club World Cup. How do you qualify? A team qualifies for the FIFA Club World Cup by winning either one of the six confederation Champions Leagues or by being the league champion in the host country. The Copa Libertadores final takes place on November 4 by which point all teams will have then qualified for the tournament in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Al Ittihad will face Auckland City in the first round to see who plays either Urawa Red Diamonds, Al Ahly or Leon - with that quartet of teams to be drawn in the second round. The winners will then join City and the Copa Libertadores champions in the semi-finals. All matches will be determined at the draw in September.
