Man City fan who flew to Istanbul ends up in hospital and MISSED Champions League final in agonising ordeal
A Manchester City fan who broke her leg and hip in a fall outside the Champions League final has slammed UEFA's handling of the game saying supporters were 'treated like cattle'. Clare Watson, 67, missed City's historic treble victory after she was rushed to hospital after taking a tumble outside the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul.
"But after about 10 yards I went over and I knew straight away I'd broken my hip and leg. I could feel the bones moving." There have been a numerous complaints about the decision to hold the final in Istanbul and the organisation before and after the game. Many supporters were unable to return to their city centre hotels until past 3am after a late kick-off and a scramble for shuttle buses after the final whistle.
A month on from City's 1-0 victory over Inter Milan, Clare, of Alkrington, Middleton, is still off work, is unable to drive and needs a walking frame to get around. And she's in no doubt who should be held responsible for her injuries.
