According to court documents, Walter Daniel Saravia Palacios, 35, is charged with murder in the death of 36-year-old Diamond Brigman.

A witness who reported to be driving behind Palacios was able to capture his license plate, according to court documents. "Before you see any of us in our trans and gender identity first, the one thing we are at all times from the moment of birth, from the moment of conception, from the moment we come out before they gender identify us is human beings," said Atlantis Narcisse, founder of, at least 32 people who identified as transgender were murdered in 2023. Eighty-four percent were people of color and 50% were Black trans women.
