A Warrenville man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of his Aurora brother, officials said.
Gabriel Garcia, 19, is accused of killing his brother David Garcia, 21, early Monday during a family dispute at a home on Aurora’s West Side, Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office officials said.Kane County Coroner Rob Russell conducted an autopsy and said the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Gabriel Garcia fled the home and was apprehended Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to officials. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, court records show.On Monday around 1:40 a.m., Aurora’s 911 dispatch received a call reporting a person was shot inside a home in the 1800 block of West Illinois Avenue, police said.
Gabriel Garcia’s bail was set at $3 million. He remains in custody at the Kane County jail and is due back in court on Aug. 12.
