A false narrative had been peddled online by Tommy Robinson that a Muslim man had stabbed three people in the city.

A man has been charged in connection with the alleged stabbing of a 21-year-old woman in Stirling . The alleged attack occurred at around 8.20pm on Saturday night in the town's King Street..

In an unusual move, cops confirmed today that the man was described as white and local to Stirling. This appears to be in a bid to quash social media rumours that appeared on Saturday that there had been three stabbings by a man believed to be Muslim. Top news stories today Chief Inspector Liam Harman said: “We fully appreciate the impact this incident has had in the local community and appreciate the support provided to our investigation. This is being treated as an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.
