A man has been charged over a blaze which destroyed a woman’s house in Sadlier, one day after he allegedly attacked her with a knife. 7NEWS

A crime scene was established, but no one was at the residence when the 45-year-old man allegedly returned at 6am on Sunday and lit the blaze.

“NSW Fire and Rescue attended and extinguished the blaze however the house was destroyed,” NSW Police The man was arrested in the backyard of the Sadlier property and transported to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with several domestic violence offences. He was charged with contravening prohibition/restriction in AVO , special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, wound person intending to cause grievous bodily harm , and taking and driving a conveyance without consent of owner and damage property by fire/explosion .
