Edgar Barron, 25, is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, according to Cook County court records.
CHICAGO -- A man has been charged in a shooting that wounded two undercover Chicago police officers in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in 2017. At his first court appearance on Saturday, a judge ordered him held at Cook County Jail while he awaits trial.Police said he was identified as one of the two men who opened fire on two police officers on May 2, 2017, in the 1500 block of West 43rd Street.
Barron fled the United States to avoid prosecution after the shooting, according to prosecutors. Police said he was arrested Thursday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, about a mile away from the scene of the shooting.It was not immediately clear when Barron returned to the U.S.Gomez was arrested soon after the shooting, and was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery, and four counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm.
