OAKLAND — A man with six prior convictions has been charged with murder and attempted murder in a shooting last month in East Oakland that left a Daly City man dead and his cousin wounded, according to authorities and court records.
The April 26 shooting, which happened about 4:20 a.m. in the 1500 block of International Boulevard, claimed the life of Richard McDonald, 24, and left his 26-year-old cousin, a San Francisco resident, wounded. Police have not confirmed why Parker and the victims were in Oakland or why the men were shot. The victims were in a vehicle when they were shot and were able to drive to a hospital, where McDonald died, authorities said. According to court documents, Parker was identified as the suspect based on video surveillance recovered in the area, witness statements and electronic data. Authorities did not say more about the nature of the electronic data or how it led to Parker’s arrest.According to the court records, Parker is on federal probation for a 2020 conviction of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
