A man has been charged after a fight which broke out in Piccadilly Gardens on Tuesday evening. Police were called to reports of a fight at around 6.45pm outside Nando's and the Travelodge in the city centre on June 25.
One man was injured and taken to hospital, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said. He was attacked with a crutch, though his injuries are not thought to be life threatening, the M.E.N. understands. Nathan Maher, 20, of no fixed abode, has been charged with assault by beating and possession of an offensive weapon, the force has confirmed.Pictures from the scene showed three police cars and one ambulance were in attendance for a number of hours, with the pavement blocked off. A number of items remained within the cordon including some rubbish, a hat and some crutches..
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 6:45pm this evening , police were called to reports of a fight in the Piccadilly Gardens area of Manchester. One man was injured and has been taken to hospital for treatment."
