A second man has died from legionnaires disease in Victoria. The man, aged in his 60s, became unwell on July 27 and was admitted to hospital, where he died on August 1. It comes after a woman in her 90s died earlier this week from the disease. There are now 77 confirmed cases of legionnaires disease in Victoria — including two in the past 24 hours and another seven suspected cases.
More than 50 of 100 sites have been inspected, and authorities believe there is a high likelihood they have already tested and treated the source. Authorities are now examining weather patterns and believe this could explain the outbreak. They have contacted another 1000 businesses across Melbourne, telling them to self-test and report to the Department of Health, Looker said.
