The Essex County man, who was armed with a knife, also assaulted two other people, police said.

A man who barricaded himself in a Hudson County residence after striking a pedestrian with his vehicle was taken into custody following an hours-long standoff with police Sunday.

The 45-year-old man from Orange crashed his vehicle at the intersection of Bergenline Avenue and 70th street in Guttenberg shortly before 9 p.m., striking a pedestrian in the process, according to local police. Following the crash, the man walked away from the vehicle and allegedly assaulted another pedestrian before entering a residence on 70th while armed with a knife, Guttenberg police said.
