A Bainbridge Township man faces several felony charges after he attacked two housemates at 6 p.m. Jan. 9, sending one to the hospital with serious injuries.
A man was assaulting his girlfriend in the driveway of the home they share along with her ex-husband. When officers arrived, the 38-year-old suspect was trying to pull the woman from a dump truck parked in the driveway, where she had sought refuge.
The suspect attempted to grab an officer’s gun and threatened him while efforts were made to bring the man under control. The man was transported to a hospital for evaluation and admitted to having two hits of crack cocaine and drinking alcohol before the melee. The male housemate, who had placed the 911 call, was transported to a hospital, where he was treated for a collapsed lung and three to four broken ribs. The female housemate sustained visible injuries to her face and head, but other injuries were unknown because she refused to cooperate with first responders. Police charged the suspect with two counts of domestic violence, disorderly conduct and assaulting a police officer. An officer on patrol at 12:23 a.m. Jan. 6 encountered a vehicle that did not dim its high-beam headlights as it passed. The officer stopped the driver, who had slurred speech and admitted to consuming three whiskey beverages at a local tavern.
