Eric G. Martinez, 35, was arrested Wednesday and faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder.
A man was arrested Tuesday by Phoenix police on suspicion of physically assaulting a woman.
The woman told police that she and Martinez had argued earlier that day, but that things escalated that night when she was awoken by a loud noise coming from the pool. The woman said she made her way to the living room when Martinez was in the pool, court documents state. Martinez then choked the woman before she broke free from his grasp and ran outside, she told police.
