A Gonzales man was arrested Monday night after allegedly burglarizing multiple properties and stealing weapons and a vehicle in Fayette County, authorities said

Ross Stayton Lester, 31, was charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation, unauthorized use of a vehicle, unlawful possession of body armor by a felon, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office received a 911 call around 10:52 p.m. reporting a burglary on Anchor Ranch Loop near Allen Road in the Flatonia area. Deputies were advised that an armed male had entered a residence.A deputy arrived to find Lester behaving strangely, standing next to a 4-wheeler in the road with his hands up. Lester, who was wearing body armor, was detained. A 9mm gun was found in a nearby ditch.
Investigation revealed that after Lester's vehicle broke down, he allegedly entered a residence and stole a Honda ATV. He then drove to another property where he took body armor and a handgun from a pickup truck before entering that home. Occupants confronted him, and he immediately left.Stay Connected
