Man arrested in 2021 fatal shooting in Spring Valley [Breaking]
A 56-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in the fatal shooting of another man in Spring Valley in 2021, a sheriff’s official said Wednesday.
John Lopez was booked into jail on suspicion of murder in the death of 67-year-old David Martinez, sheriff’s Lt. Joseph Jarjura said.about 5:30 p.m. on April 15, 2021, near Harness and Presioca streets in the La Presa neighborhood, according to the Sheriff’s Department.The county Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the San Diego resident died of a gunshot wound to his head, the Sheriff’s Department has said.
On Wednesday, Jarjura said the nature of the relationship between Martinez and Lopez was unclear, and the motive and other circumstances were under investigation. The lieutenant said Lopez is believed to be homeless. A regional fugitive task force arrested him on East Mission Bay Drive near Clairemont Drive in San Diego.
Jarjura declined to say how investigators identified Lopez as the suspected shooter, citing the ongoing investigation.
