Aguinaga Alejandro, 35, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Monday's road rage attack. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. Monday at the QuikTrip off Marbach Road near Loop 1604. Sheriff Javier Salazar said the confrontation began as a verbal dispute over a near-collision in the gas station parking lot. The 58-year-old victim was approached by two men, and the situation escalated when four more individuals, arriving in a truck hauling a fifth-wheel trailer with heavy construction equipment, joined in. After leaving the store, the victim was allegedly surrounded, attacked and pistol-whipped by Alejandro. He suffered a skull fracture and a large head gash but is expected to be released from the hospital today. A witness at the scene was able to provide a license plate number, which helped deputies track down Alejandro at his home. He was arrested without incident. The black handgun believed to have been used in the assault has not yet been recovered. Authorities continue to search for the remaining individuals involved.
