Alexander Cedillo Herrera is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly stealing credit cards from the Orem Utah Temple and using them for fraudulent purchases.

A man is facing charges after he stole credit cards from the Orem Utah Temple and used them to make several thousand dollars worth of fraudulent purchases. Alexander Cedillo Herrera, 35, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft/deception, unlawful acquire/possess/transfer of financial card, and unlawful use of financial card. Just before 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec.

30, an officer with the Orem Police Department reached out to a man whose credit card had been used fraudulently multiple times in October. The charges have since been disputed and the victim's account refunded. The victim provided the officer with his bank statement, which showed multiple fraudulent charges including $2,147.93 at the Apple Store in Murray and $1.60 at the Maverick Gas Station in Orem. An article had been published the week prior advising the public that credit cards and other items had been stolen from the Orem temple.South Salt Lake police seeking help identifying suspected ATM thieves It should be noted, LDS Temples are not accessible to the public and require a public card, referred to as a Temple Recommend. The officer assigned to this case was also the lead investigating officer on the temple theft cases and identified the suspect as Herrera. Herrera used multiple stolen credit cards from the temple to make purchases at Best Buy, Target, Maverick Gas Stations, the Apple Store, and other locations. Suspecting Herrera was involved in this most recent case as well, on Friday, Jan. 3, the officer spoke with a Maverick Gas Station director and requested video surveillance of the fraudulent transaction from October
