'When officers arrived, they found the cat in a bag covered in fecal matter, barely breathing and not moving.'
Alicia Manzo, an employee at Braum's, said her coworker was on break in his car when he noticed something happening in the grass area behind him.
From what I was told, the dude had the bag, and he had like a stick or a baseball bat. And once he put that bag down, he just started wailing on it, like out of nowhere," she said."Then he looks up again and sees the bag get up and start to move. And after calling the cops and all of that, he realized 'Oh shoot, there's a cat in the bag. Like he's beating the cat,'" she said.
According to the police report, when officers arrived, they found the cat in the bag covered in fecal matter barely breathing and not moving. Police said Rinehart claimed the cat was hit by a vehicle when it jumped out of his car and followed his girlfriend after an argument. Manzo said she constantly sees police going in and out of the apartment complex where the incident occurred.
"I just wish this area could be a little better, like a little safer. I got a kid, and I don't even feel safe just walking in the evening time by myself, let alone with her," she said.
