Police responded to calls of an agitated male assaulting and stabbing several people in broad daylight on Wednesday in Melbourne's north-west.

The victims were injured after a man approached them near Puckle Street, close to a busy shopping precinct in Moonee Ponds about 1:15pm.The 36-year-old man was arrested by authorities and brought in for questioning.

Picture: Supplied“The four victims have been taken to hospital for treatment to what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries,” a Victoria Police statement said. The male is understood to be assisting authorities with their enquiries as they piece together the incident.

Investigators have urged any witnesses of the broad daylight attack to contact the police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
