Man arrested, accused of throwing caustic chemical at roommate in Serra Mesa [Breaking]
A 19-year-old man was arrested after reportedly throwing hydrochloric acid on his roommate in a Serra Mesa apartment Saturday evening, a San Diego police sergeant said.
One of the responding officers was taken to hospital to be checked for exposure to the caustic chemical, Sgt. Clint Leisz said. The incident happened at an apartment complex on Civita Boulevard, off Mission Center Road and north of Friars Road.About 7 p.m., a man called to report that his roommate had thrown the chemical at him, the sergeant said.Officers responded, as did members of the San Diego Fire Department’s hazardous materials team, he said.
The roommate was evaluated at the scene and released. The suspect was jailed on suspicion of throwing the caustic chemical.
