The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-car fatal crash that happened on State Route 57 at Griswold Road in Elyria Thursday.

OSHP said around 3:20 p.m. a Nissan Altima, driven by 40-year-old Brandan Ryan of Amherst, was driving north on State Route 57 and ran a red light crashing into a Toyota Corolla driven by 48-year-old Robert Vormelker of Lorain who was turning onto Griswold Road.The two passengers in the Altima 36-year-old Tanner Smith of Cleveland, and 36-year-old Meghan Incorvaia of Wakeman, died at the scene.
Ryan was taken by Life Flight to the MetroHealth Hospital in Cleveland with life-threatening injuries.Vormelker was transported by ground ambulance to UH Elyria Medical Center with serious injuries. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Elyria Police Department, Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, Amherst Police Department, North Ridgeville Police Department, Elyria Fire Department, LifeCare Ambulance, Lorain County Coroner’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Sugar Ridge Towing & Recycling.
