A Dublin man now facing charges in connection with two fires in different counties. He is also suspected in two other fires.
Affan Taj, 20, was arrested earlier this month in connection with a fire at a housing development in Dublin in Franklin County. Authorities said the porch was set on fire, and a witness reported seeing a black Honda sedan leaving the scene.
Across from the home, the words “Free Israel” were spray-painted on the wall of another home under construction. This week, Pleasant Valley Joint Fire District Chief Bryan J. Adams announced arson and vandalism charges filed in Union County. Taj appeared in court on Thursday, where a judge set bond at $750,000. So far, he is accused of fires in the 7100 block of Dunmore Court in Dublin and the 9600 block of Lennon Lane in Plain City . Union County court documents say he is also suspected of fires in the 1000 block of Saddle Tank Drive in Plain City and the 6900 block of Still House Lane in Dublin, but has not yet been charged in those incidents.Chief Adams spoke with WSYX after Taj's initial arrest in Franklin County.The documents state that Taj’s brother told police that Taj admitted to the fires, and that Taj admitted to police that he had videos on his phone of him setting the fires.U.S. Sen.
